A few random photos of the pets...minus Red (who was featured in a previous post ) and Tom, who seldom makes himself available.  I also did not take pictures of the fish.

May Catch Up--Dogs

I went to work one Monday....typical, nothing out of the ordinary.  I barely am there an hour, and my mom calls me frantic, telling me I need to come home.  The dog next door got in the yard....in my panic, I did think to ask if our dogs are ok, she says yes, but Chris said I needed to come home.

I get home...the police are at the house next door, and the animal control officer is on our front porch talking to Chris, who was absolutely livid.

From what I can gather, Red and Bruno were outside, as they usually are in the morning.  Bruno has run of the yard as he is not as investigative as Red, who stays on a tie out when outside.  Today, of all days, he got off his collar.  The young woman who lives next door has a pit bull that our dogs cannot stand.  They bark incessantly anytime that dog is outside....they don't bark at the neighbor dog behind us or the other side of us...only this one.  Bark and paw and just go berserk...and her dog immediately goes barking at our fence everytime it comes outside.  Today was no exception; only today, a hole was made in the fence.

Neighbor claims that Red and Bruno were on her side of the fence, pulled her dog to our side, and she was trying to pull her dog back while Red and Bruno were pulling on the other side.  Um, ok.  A few things wrong with that scenario.
1) The part of the yard where this happened is just outside of my parents room.  As soon as the barking changed, my husband and son and mom were outside.  It happened too quickly for them to have been on her side and back again.
2) If they had gotten on her side, why would they come back?  and
3) More importantly, the hole was too small for either of our dogs to have fit through singly, let alone together or with another dog in tow.
I found out later that she cussed at my son.  My 14 year old son...I realize he is not the size of a typical 14 year old...but he does not look like an adult in appearance.  I was so angry...even contemplated going over there, but thought better of it.  And her dog scratched Chris' stomach in the scuffle.

Red had a gash on his head...bad enough he needed to go to the vet.  Bad enough he needed stitches.  After his exam, we discovered he also had a cut on his neck and several on his right paw.  I asked the vet if he thought it was from the fence or teeth...he believes it was teeth.

We didn't get any "before" pics....this is after the repair, which involved sedation, staying overnight, and the lovely blue stitches.

The oh so knowledgeable animal control officer couldn't even read the rabies certification....he put the date of the lot as the expiration date.  And said our fence wasn't stable enough for a 60+ pound dog.  Red doesn't even weigh 50 pounds.

A couple weeks later, her dog got in our yard.  We bought an outdoor dog kennel that Red and Bruno go in when they go outside...her dog practically climbed the side of it.  I don't know what she was doing or why....but seriously?  If you can't control your dog by command, don't have it unrestrained outside.  How hard is that?  So I called animal control....and she put up another fence on her side.  There is still a hole out there...but we are hopeful it will be covered soon.

For good measure...here is Bruno...who was not hurt or at least not noticably if he was.

May Catch Up--NEW Bed

Chris and I got a new bed....we had been sleeping on a futon, which in actuality, worked out really well.  We liked it for the most part, but lately we decided we needed something a bit softer and higher.

Turns out, the dog likes it too.....

(This is Chris' side of the bed.)  Don't laugh too hard though....when Chris laid down, Zeus moved to the end of the bed.  When I told him to get down, he snuggled up next to Chris on my side of the bed.  ~Silly dog...beds are for humans!~

The one good picture I get of him actually looking at me...the red eye corrector in my editing software that says it corrects pet eyes too....doesn't.  So his eyes glow......

February

Feb was a fairly uneventful month as far as plans and activities and such.  I did find a few things photoworthy though....(not that that is saying much..I take pictures of pretty much anything).

Schnucks had Christmas cake mixes and frosting on sale...so I bought a BUNCH of them.  And of course, mr. sweet tooth himself had to have cupcakes made.

We had MORE snow....and ice.  This was a freak snowstorm.  Went to bed Sun night, woke to a winter wonderland.  It was pretty, but horrible for driving to work.  Chris attempted to take me (I don't drive in this if at all possible), but turned around and came home.  Cars were sliding all over the place.

We even had enough to make a snowman.  Pretty cool.

The dogs even got out and played in it.

The Home Depot kids workshop was a car garage....You can tell he was enthused about the photo, huh?

SURPRISE!!!  My mom bought him a new basketball goal.  She was able to get it purchased and put it together without him knowing..he woke up to it the next morning.
Kraig also got new glasses this year.  I got new contacts and glasses in Jan, so he wanted "rectangle" glasses like mine.  They are x-games glasses and blue....I like them.  And more importantly so does he.
I found a pattern for a "crocheted snuggle up with sleeves"...and made a camoflage one for Kraig.  He fell asleep on it one night...notice he is holding the pattern...it wasn't finished yet.

Here it is completed...

This is Kraig's sunday school teacher....her family moved to Arizona the end of February.  She will be greatly missed....Kraig loved her.

November--Random

Patches often doesn't have much to do with Kraig, at least while he's awake.  But she has always looked after him while he sleeps, since the day he came home from the hospital.  She just doesn't always do it ON the bed with him!  And if he knew, he'd probably have not liked it much.

We decided Kraig was a true party animal in November...he had a busier social calendar than the rest of us.  This is a birthday party he attended for a little girl in his class.  It was held at SEGA (a gymnastics association).  He had a great time!

Obstacle course.....

Balance beam (it was only a few inches off the floor)....

He loved the "jump" at the end.

He liked the swing, but wouldn't do it by himself.

The delay on my camera is sometimes a bit aggravating.....if I wait too long, I miss the shot entirely; if I take it too soon, I get shots like this.  He loves these slides.

This net was something else he wasn't quite ready to do by himself.

The parachute...he does this at school, so he enjoyed this too.

And of course, no party is complete without cake and ice cream.  He did not eat the cake, however, but he did eat the icing off it.

That same week, we held Kraig's birthday party (in a separate post) and he attended the birthday party of a little boy in his class......it was held at Gymstars, a facility similar to

This was a rope swing also, but he actually did this one, albeit a bit hesitantly.

Rock climber....

Trampoline....

Double balance beams....?

And the theme of the party was none other than......

the Wonder Pets!  Kraig adores that show.  For those of you that may not know, Wonder Pets is a children's show on Nick Jr in which Lenny(a hamster), Tuck(a turtle), and MingMing(a duck) save other animals in trouble.

More random shots.....Kraig, Christopher and Chris have been throwing the football back and forth outside.  Kraig calls the jersey he is wearing his "number shirt" and it "makes him go fast".  Usually he is the coach....and tells Chris and Christopher when to throw the ball to each other.
