Kraig Kraig Kraig

Even in his sleep Kraig is pondering the next day.....

At school, the fire dept sends "Fireman Roy" throughout the year to teach Fire Safety.  The last week of school, Kraig's class got to stand on the fire truck and had their picture taken in front of it (see future post for that).    They also got a white fire chief hat, a certificate for completing the fire safety program, and the t-shirt shown below.  He was so excited about the shirt...he wore it home from school, had to show it to Chris as soon as he got in and slept in it too!
And the back of his shirt....

Kraig is ever the resourceful child.  If we don't own it or haven't bought it, he will make it...out of whatever is available, as you might recall from the paper towel roll guns he made here .  As most of you know he is also incredibly enamored with all things firefighter...and so he has created his own firefighter clothes.

Gotta love it!

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day began like most....with Kraig bringing out the gifts he made at school.  This is the decorated bag....when he brought it to the office, he started untying the ribbon.  Chris told him we could open it; he said, "I know how".  So he did.

He made this plaster hand....he also made a plaster key, but gave that to my mom.

Also this card..isn't it cute?  I always love the stuff my children make!

And then Nina made this cake for my mom and I.  The cake itself is yellow (well, actually a white cake that didn't turn yellow...) and the next layer is ice cream.  The left side is Birthday Bash and the right side (my side) is butter pecan.  YUM!
And....Kraig had to have his own cake for Mother's Day.  Chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream...of course!
Nina and Kyle took his mom and me out to eat.  We ate a little family owned Mexican restaurant...O M G..it was so good.  I left so stuffed....
When they brought the bill, they brought a rose for the moms....since Chris is allergic I didn't want to bring it home, so since we were so close to the cemetary and going there anyway, I left it there with Kyle.

I had an AWESOME Mother's Day!!!!

Rain rain and more rain...

Most everyone has heard about the devastating rains TN was doused with last weekend.  While we *thankfully* did not have any of the damage of other areas or even some of our neighbors and friends...we did have some moments that had us concerned.

This is our backyard....from the door frame to the pole is our patio...

Notice how close it is to the door.....it got as close as the silver frame edging thing that separates the inside from the outside.

And this is the other side of the yard.....nice lakes for the dogs to run around it.  They spent the majority of both days in the house.  Zeus in the bathroom; Red and Bruno in the crate.  Miss Kitty was in the pet carrier in the office.  With all the tornadoes surrounding us, we didn't want any pets outside.

This is the yard on the side front of the house....look at the stream of water pouring off the roof.
And this is how Kraig spent much of the storm warnings...thankfully.  Since they primarily occurred at night (with a few exceptions), he slept through much of it, with no worries and not a care in the world.  Oh to be like children and just sleep through the troubles.

April 2010--EASTER

Easter is one of my favorite times of the year....new season, trees start blooming, baby animals start coming out, the gray of winter gives way to the green of spring....and of course, the celebration of Jesus' resurrection and our own hopes for atonement and resurrection.

One of the young ladies at church planned an Easter Egg hunt for the children...here is Kraig "looking" for his eggs.  He actually went looking by himself..he made sure my mom was watching, but he did not require her to be by his side.

Easter Eve...we always decorate eggs.  The older Kraig gets, the more he wants to "help".  This year was no exception...look how intent he is.

This is Easter morning at home....notice how he is nonchalantly peeking around the corner to see what the Easter bunny left him....

The loot....chalk, playdough, and of course, candy.
The Easter egg hunt at home....we are not as easy as at church, but they were all found.  Even the real eggs.

The flowers we took to the cemetary...Kraig picked them.  (Can't you tell...they're yellow.)
