HOME DEPOT!!!

In recognition of football season....the item this month was a football holder.  (If you turn it over, it looks like a toy table.)

Kraig usually has his apron on (but he got hot)...and his self appointed job is to hold the pieces in the pockets until needed.

This is usually how the project goes....either Chris or I do the work...and he gets the pin and certificate!

(Look at the little sun spot....I read somewhere recently that those "orbs" that get captured in pictures are really angels in the pic.  I like that...maybe it means Kyle was there with us.)

Of course when we got it home, Kraig used it as a fortress for his army men.   Repurposing....even at age 5!

Kraig Kraig Kraig

Even in his sleep Kraig is pondering the next day.....

At school, the fire dept sends "Fireman Roy" throughout the year to teach Fire Safety.  The last week of school, Kraig's class got to stand on the fire truck and had their picture taken in front of it (see future post for that).    They also got a white fire chief hat, a certificate for completing the fire safety program, and the t-shirt shown below.  He was so excited about the shirt...he wore it home from school, had to show it to Chris as soon as he got in and slept in it too!
And the back of his shirt....

Kraig is ever the resourceful child.  If we don't own it or haven't bought it, he will make it...out of whatever is available, as you might recall from the paper towel roll guns he made here .  As most of you know he is also incredibly enamored with all things firefighter...and so he has created his own firefighter clothes.

Gotta love it!

January -- RANDOM

I didn't get pictures taken during Christmas, but here is the figurine we bought for Kyle.

And here is the group of all of them.....

The new year started off with some excitement for our neighbors.....they had a chimney fire. No damage or anything, but Kraig got a bird's eye view of two fire engines and the fire marshall's car.

Kraig had another party to go to....at Pump it Up again.  This time, he didn't even wait for us to get our shoes off.  He took his off and he was gone!

And the 2010 ice storm....I had to go to work, so I asked Chris to take some pics for me.  I love ice/snow in the trees... I think it's so pretty...not the havoc it wreaks, but it is pretty to look at.

Fire Museum

Today was Kraig's big day...he is OBSESSED with fire trucks (he also likes "peace" cars and "amblances"--but fire trucks/men are his absolute favorite). A couple of weeks ago, the fire dept came to his class--they're picture was even in the Collierville paper--I'll try to scan and post that later. He came home with the biggest grin that day--and a fire helmet. He also said Mrs. Gilbert told them they would be going to the fire museum....well, we went today. We told him yesterday we'd be going...so all evening, all he'd talk about was "after this night we go to the fire museum". He woke up at 540am, still talking about going.

He wore his helmet that he got from school. We also took a ride on the trolley afterwards, which is where this pic was taken (he is sitting on Chris' lap.)

He was a bit overstimulated, and didn't really like the sirens from some of the simulated trucks, but otherwise had a great time.
